This article describes how to set up and execute tests with the GRL-C3-MP-TPR Tester and Tektronix High-Performance Real-Time Oscilloscope in the manual mode
Depth and Modulation measurements of ASK packets can be verified manually using the scope. Follow the instructions below when running these measurements:
- Ensure proper connection between the GRL-C3-MP-TPR Tester and scope. i.e., connect AC1, V_RECT and I_RECT from the GRL-C3-MP-TPR Tester to the scope channels 1, 3 and 2 respectively using scope probes to replicate MPP signals (refer to Figure 1 below).
Note: It is not mandatory to connect to scope channels 1, 3 and 2 only. Any channels on the scope can be connected.
Figure 1: Channel-1 (AC1), Channel-3 (V_RECT) and Channel-4 (I_RECT) connections on scope
Figure 2 below shows Channel-1 (AC), Channel-3 (V_RECT) and Channel-4 (I_RECT in Calibration) connections on the GRL-C3-MP-TPR Tester.
Figure 2: Channel-1 (AC), Channel-3 (V_RECT) and Channel-4 (I_RECT in Calibration) connections on GRL-C3-MP-TPR Tester
2. After setting up all the above connections, set the scope settings as follows:
- Sample rate to 200us/s
- Record length to 50M
- Resolution to 200ns
- For channel 1, set the vertical Scale per division to 4V
- For channel 3, set the vertical Scale per division to 4V
- For channel 2, set the Vertical Scale per division to 500mA
- Set Mode to Run in Single
Figure 3 and 4 below show the Horizontal or Acquisition setup and Single mode setup.

3. Select the USB Power Delivery test case (e.g. 1.7.1) and run the test case in the GRL-C3-MP-TPR Browser App and observe Modulation for the ASK packets. Figure 5 below shows the ASK Modulation capture on the scope.

4. Once the waveform is captured, measure the Mod Base Load and Depth as shown in Figure 6 and 7 respectively.

5. Once the test execution is completed, save the CV+ waveform on the scope and rename it.For example, for Test ID: TD_1_7_1_MPP.PTX.POW.GUARANTEED_POWER _1- (0,0), rename as “TD_171.wfm”.
