FAQ on GRL-C3-MP-TPR Methods for Testing Foreign Object Detection (FOD)

Q: What are the two-step approach which the GRL-C3-MP-TPR uses to test FOD?

A: The GRL-C3-MP-TPR uses the following two-step approach to test foreign object detection (FOD):

    (i) Open-Air Q-Test (pre-power transfer FOD method) −

Pre-power transfer FOD method that is useful for detecting foreign objects placed on the power transmitter (PTx) mat prior to the arrival of the power receiver (PRx).

(ii) MPP Power Loss Accounting (in-power transfer FOD method) −

In-power transfer FOD method that is useful for extending power loss accounting to 15 W power delivery and beyond, without the need for run-time re-calibration.
